曾几何时，宠物热潮席卷全国。特别是那些拥有高智商且外形酷似人类的"犬类"和"猫类"品种尤其受欢迎。 但随着时光流逝，这股热潮逐渐消退。如今只剩下真正喜爱它们、将其视为人生伴侣的人们仍在饲养这些宠物，与之共同生活。
故事的主人公是名大学生。某个雨天，他发现了一只被雨水淋得瑟瑟发抖的流浪幼犬。没有项圈，虚弱不堪，眼看就要失去幼小的生命。于心不忍的主人公想着"等雨停就好"，将"她"带回了房间，悉心照料着喂食喂水。可即便雨过天晴，小狗恢复了健康，却始终郁郁寡欢，整日惊惶不安。 于是主人公下定决心，要帮这只小狗寻找"原来的主人"。
"在找到主人之前"——一人一犬的同居生活就此展开...
